In the 17th Annual “State of Tobacco Control” report, created by the American Lung Association, grades are assigned to every state and on a federal level based on the areas of smokefree air laws, Tobacco 21, tobacco taxes, tobacco prevention funding, and access to quit smoking treatments.

In New York State, we received an ‘A’ for Smokefree Air Laws, a ‘B’ for Tobacco Taxes, a ‘C’ for both Access to Cessation and Tobacco 21 , and an ‘F’ in Tobacco Funding and Prevention.
