Our mission is to make communities throughout the Finger Lakes region healthier places to live, work and play. We are committed to decreasing tobacco use and creating healthy smoke-free environments for all through several initiative areas that include:
Point of Sale Marketing
The tobacco industry spends over a half million dollars a day in New York State to market its products – and 90 percent of it is devoted to in-store advertising.

Tobacco-free Worksites
The workplace is a major source of exposure to secondhand smoke and vapor from tobacco products including cigarettes and e-cigarettes.
Smoke-free Housing
Secondhand smoke/vapor drifts from neighboring apartments and creates unhealthy living conditions for everyone in the building.

Tobacco-free Outdoors
Exposure to secondhand smoke in outdoor recreational including parks, playgrounds and beaches can be hazardous – especially for children.
Smoke-free Media
Teens consume more media than ever, watching an average of almost 11 hours of media in any given day and the media youth consume is often completely unregulated.

With the new school year right around the corner, it is important to recognize vape prevention measures to take within schools. Talking about the issue of vaping is a crucial step when it comes to education and prevention.

When it comes to electronic vape devices, and tobacco products in general, there are still many myths that continue to circulate. Vape devices entered the market in 2007 and started to become very popular in 2014 within the United States. At that time vapes were thought to be "healthier" than traditional combustible cigarettes. Over the last decade more of these myths have been debunked, and it is so important that they continue to be debunked, and to shed some light on the true facts revolving vape devices.
